Grandmillennial is the portmanteau of grandma and millennial used to characterize a style that has been gaining prominence the last few months.

Many people are beginning to turn away from more minimal design styles and embracing a more chintzy, frilly and decorative style that is reminiscent of ‘grandma’s’ style and calling it grandmillennial style.
The style is a twist on traditional design, maintaining its characteristic wooden furniture with cabriole legs, heavily patterned wallpaper and slip-covered furniture. Alternatively it is referred to as granny-chic, the style mixes the heirloom and antique pieces with modern fixtures and details. Bringing in elements of coastal, palm regency and preppy styles for a lighter more airy take on the heavier traditional style.
Main elements you will find in grandmillennial style: Slip covers, wallpaper, chintz, fringe, trim, drapery, needlepoint and pooling fabrics…
